A Gossip Girl movie is looking more and more likely...XOXO

Gossip Girl | Facebook

FIVE years after the show left our TV screens, the rumour mill is in overdrive that a Gossip Girl movie will soon be underway.

A source has told US OK! Magazine that after seeing the colossal success of of movie adaptations for Sex and the City, producers have been looking for ways to reenter the drama of the Upper East Side.

According to the source, Leighton Meester is 100 percent on board to get back into the mind (and wardrobe) of Blair Waldorf, and Sebastian Stan (Carter Baizen), Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald) and Jessica Szohr (Vanessa Abrams) are all interested in coming back to make the film.

The only person who definitely will NOT return is Taylor Momsen (Jenny Humphries), with the singer saying that acting is well and truly "part of my past at this point".

There has been no word yet on whether our beloved Chuck Bass, Dan Humphries or Serena Van Der Woodsen would be keen on a reprise, but by the sounds of things, even Blake Lively is coming round to the idea.

"A couple of years ago she would never have agreed, but now that she has established an identity apart from the show, she seems more open to it," the source shared.

In fact, a recent interview with Variety suggested it was more of an option for the actress than previously thought.

An interviewer asked if she'd return for a Gossip Girl revival, and she said, "I don't know. Why not?"

"Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it's hard work and I've got my babies, and I don't want to be away from them that much."

Sounds like a feature-length revival would be the perfect project then, huh?

The series finale of Gossip Girl was everything we wanted it to be and more - but that doesn't mean there aren't story lines we'd like to see carried on (forever and ever and ever…)

While we got to see a glimpse into our favourite characters' futures, there are definitely plenty of questions we want answered.

Chuck and Blair may have gotten married and had a baby, but was that the start of a totally uneventful happily ever after? (We highly doubt it.)

Dan was unmasked as being the mysterious 'Gossip Girl' and still managed to win the heart of his beloved Serena. But did he ever manage to kick the feeling that a Brooklyn boy could truly be good enough for the Princess of the Upper East Side?

What went wrong for Rufus and Lily?

I guess we'll just have to ponder all these questions (and more) until we get the official word that the movie is locked in and definitely going ahead.

Until then,

XOXO
