Yeppoon Water Police will hit the dam this weekend.

BAD boaters beware – a special team of Yeppoon Water Police are in town this weekend conducting an operation at Fairbairn Dam.

Sergeant Shawn Halson and Senior Constable Troy Welsh arrived in Emerald yesterday with a host of special policing equipment never before used in the Central Highlands. Apart from targeting speeding, the pair will be conducting random breath tests, safety equipment checks, vessel registration checks and licensing checks.

In use will be a laser speed detection system that converts speed to knots, and a breath testing device.
