"Toowoomba's thriving construction and development works is establishing the region as a hub of economic activity, and Grand Central is poised to help realise even more of these opportunities.

"By transforming the centre into the region's unrivalled retail, entertainment and lifestyle destination, Grand Central will be well positioned to capture the millions of dollars in retail spending currently being lost to Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast shopping precincts."

The project will also make a significant contribution to employment in the region, with around 1,000 jobs to be created within the redeveloped shopping centre.

Mr Beverage said the transformation was on schedule and progressing well.

"We are very excited about launching stage one of the Grand Central redevelopment project later this year, and we will have more information about that launch very soon," he said.
