Grant Hackett takes legal team to court over botched pre-nup

FORMER Olympic champion Grant Hackett is suing his Brisbane-based legal team for allegedly botching a multi-million-dollar pre-nuptial agreement with his estranged pop-star wife Candice Alley.

The 32-year-old gold medallist swimmer turned sports reporter split with his wife in May last year following a drunken outburst at their Melbourne apartment where he destroyed furniture including Alley's piano.

According to News.com, Hackett has filed documents in the NSW Supreme Court alleging that between 2006 and 2009 his former legal team drafted a pre-nuptial agreement which did not comply with Australian law.

It is also alleged Hackett was not informed of the error and, as a result, was forced to pay out unexpected legal costs.

The agreement was reportedly signed by Hackett and Alley a month ahead of their 2007 wedding.
