Great prizes on offer at charity dinner

RESIDENTS will be joining the fight against breast cancer during the Breast Cancer Association of Queensland Emerald sub-committee’s annual fundraising auction and dinner to be held on August 6.

Twenty dollars from every ticket sold for the event and proceeds from the raffle and charity auction will support the Emerald BCAQ to help Central Queensland women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families.

It was hoped the money raised would fund a local breast care nurse to assist women through their breast cancer journey.

Proceeds will also help fund the continuing education of these nurses, ensuring best practice and up-to-date knowledge.

Dinner organiser Belinda Guernieri said money raised at previous dinners had helped a woman on a Springsure district property charter a helicopter during the floods to take her to an appointment in Rockhampton.

A raffle, charity auction and silent auction will also be held during the dinner, with major items to go under the hammer such as a package including flights, accommodation and tickets to see Elton John in concert and one hour of personal service from Central Highlands Regional Mayor Peter Maguire.

“You could have him cook your family breakfast, work in your business or mow your lawn – how could you put a value on this?” Mrs Guernieri said.

Those interested in attending the dinner are urged to purchase their tickets soon.
