Hand grenade discovered at Childers Waste Facility
AN AUSTRALIAN Army technical officer was urgently called after what was thought to be an undetonated hand grenade was discovered at the Childers Waste Facility.
The grenade was found with the pin still engaged shortly after 10.30am today, and the waste facility was soon closed while the technical officer was phoned.
The photos of the grenade were sent to the officer, who identified the grenade had previously been diffused and declared it safe to handle.
It is believed the grenade has been removed from the facility and will soon be destroyed.
