Hands up if you love Splendour

AFTER two years in Queensland the day has finally arrived when Splendour In The Grass returns home to Byron Bay.

Today is the first day of live acts, with 17,500 expected to make their way to Belongil Fields each day of the three-day event.

The forecast for the weekend may be for sunshine but the grounds are wet from rain in recent days, so thongs are still a no, no and, dare we say it, gumboots are still the best option to keep your feet dry.

There's a forecast top of 19 degrees today and 17 for Saturday and Sunday but overnight it's expected to be a chilly 10 degrees, so making use of the cloak room is a good idea.

As for transport, festival organisers say your best bet is to avoid travelling through the centre of town.

Buses operate from the festival site into Byron Bay CBD, to the North Beach Camp Ground and to Lennox Head, Ballina, Brunswick Heads and Ocean Shores until the close of the festival gates each night.

They leave from different gates so check your map so you know where to head at the end of the night.

And, for the first time, those who find themselves in a legal pickle can get legal advice thanks to Anderson Randall Solicitors.

The solicitors' stall, opposite the Forum tent, will provide free legal advice onsite for the duration of the festival, plus a 24-hour contact number, 0434 410 410.
