Happy and helpful vegemites
IT was just another day of raising money for a good cause for motorcycling duo "Tex and Bundy".
Terry O'Grady, aka Tex, and Bundy, his five-year-old Australian stumpy tailed cattle dog were at Pirtek Hydraulic Hoses on Friday as part of Prostate Cancer Awareness month.
The pair ride 80,000km a year, raising $450,000 annually for various charities, including the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
It's all just part of Macksville-based Tex's desire to help people.
"Prostate cancer was a very little known illness when I first started raising awareness, but that's been slowly changing and needs to keep changing with the help of wives, girlfriends and mothers," Tex said.
"99% of the time men can be saved if they catch it early enough."
Tex and Bundy's charity work may soon be given a major shot in the arm.
The pair is one of 25 finalists in Vegemite's "Toast of a Nation" competition, with the winner awarded a $10,000 cash prize and the top 10 to feature on a Limited Edition Vegemite jar.
"Getting that money and the recognition would mean it keeps us on the road a little bit longer," Tex said.
"I self fund the charity work Tex and I do and have a business to run too."
