Australia lead the four-test series after beating the tourist by 122 runs in the Boxing Day test in Melbourne.

However, national selectors, with an all-out pace attack game-plan in mind, decided to include Harris for the second Test, while Mitchell Starc and Daniel Christian drop out of the squad.

Opener Shane Watson was again missing from the 12-man squad list as he continues his recuperation from injury.

Harris returns to the squad after missing the series against New Zealand and the first Test against India.

Australian squad for the second Test:

Michael Clarke (capt), Brad Haddin, Ed Cowan, Ryan Harris, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mike Hussey, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, James Pattinson, Ricky Ponting, Peter Siddle, David Warner (12th man to be named).
