Hazard reduction fires at Westwood

The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service will be conducting a hazard reduction burn around the township of Westwood on Saturday.

From 10am there will be approximately 100 hectares of land that will be burnt operations will continue throughout the day.

Hazard reduction burns are a vital tool used by the QFRS to reduce bushfire risk and they have ensured conditions are suitable and adequate resources have assigned.

It is possible wind conditions on the day may result in smoke impacting residents in the area and therefore it is recommended they keep their doors and windows shut and medication close by if they suffer from a respiratory illness.

Motorists should also take care when driving through the area.
