LIKE most young girls who adore pink flowers, purple butterflies, Taylor Swift and Walt Disney movies, Cassi Hilbers dreamt of going to Hollywood.

The nine-year-old from Beerwah even enrolled in singing, acting and piano classes to help her journey get under way.

Although she received acclaim with the Sunshine Coast Goodwin Vocal Academy, the path to international success seemed uphill.

But thanks to the social networking site Youtube, Cassi has been given a chance to shoot to stardom at a record rate.

A talent scout saw her cover of Popular from the musical Wicked and last week she was selected to compete in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood in July.

Winners have gone on to be signed with Universal Records, appear in big screen movies such as Indiana Jones and grace the pages of Vogue.

Michael Jackson’s voice coach will be there sharing his expertise.

Cassi’s mum Tracey couldn’t be prouder.

“As a toddler she would hum along to songs in the car,” she said.

“She could carry a pretty amazing tune.

“When Cassi was four, she would put on a concert for her friends.

“Things have really started to gain momentum since her lessons and Youtube posts,” Tracey said.

“This month she was also cast as a homeless girl in a music video for a song called Metal Man by Triple J artist Josh Stewart.

“I think she gets her talent from her father, who can play guitar.”

Cassi’s dream was almost derailed when she was struck down with pneumonia last year.

The family was living in Western Australia and Cassi spent nine months being home schooled as she recovered her strength.

“I love singing. It makes me happy,” Cassi told the Daily.

“When I am on stage, I don’t feel nervous at all.

“Hannah Montana, Kasey Chambers and Taylor Swift are my favourite singers.”

It will cost the Hilbers family $8000 to send Cassi to America.
