Hewitt the pick of the pack for Qld

LAST week I was in Coonabarabran for the annual Queensland Rangers game versus NSW’s Country.

Last year Qld won the trophy and we wanted to retain it.

Tom Hewitt from the Springsure Mountain Men was selected at fullback for the Rangers and he had a good game and received the Player’s Player award.

Unfortunately Qld lost the game 34-24.

The temperature was minus five degrees at various stages and it was an experience.

The under-18s won and the under-16s lost.

It was a good chance for locals to play representative football and it showed we still have people from the country who can make it.

In the local league, Cowboys continued their winning way over the Tigers in the local derby and could be edging to a final spot. Have the Tigers lost their way?

Dysart gave Bluff a towelling in Bluff. Clermont were also too good for the Mountain Men.

Only five games to go to the finals so get down and watch your local footy.
