High tea's a very chic fundraiser

ENJOY a fashionable afternoon with friends at a fun fundraiser.

The Southern Cross Kids' Camps is holding a fashion parade and high tea fundraiser to raise money for the camp later this year.

The event is from 2pm on Saturday, April 29, at Calvary Christian Church on Gladstone St and promises plenty of delicious delights to sample. Tickets are $15 and are available from Allure Boutique on Egerton St or by calling Sue Baguely on 0437886664.

Director Emma Reibelt said Southern Cross Kids' Camps was a not-for-profit organisation that provided annual camps for children across Australia.

"The children who attend camp come from a background of abuse and neglect and are referred to the camps by welfare and foster organisations, school principals, social workers and chaplains,” Mrs Reibelt said.

"We partner with lots of organisations to provide children from six to 11 years with a five-day specialised program.

"Every year, over 50 volunteers give up a week of their time to participate in the Emerald camp.

"Through the provision of a safe environment, Southern Cross Kids' Camps gives children positive reinforcement that they are valuable, making a difference to the negative impact abuse has had on their young lives.

"Children from all

walks of life deserve to

be given every opportunity to develop a personal sense of competency, improved social skills, as well as assistance in becoming resilient, productive members of society, despite the adversity they have encountered. The children are given an exciting week of making great memories.”
