POLICE are investigating a serious car crash after the car involved allegedly sped away from police and travelled on the wrong side of the road.

Around 7.15am, a car was observed to be travelling south along the Cunningham Highway, near Ogilvie Road, with a woman with most of her body hanging outside the vehicle.

Police attempted to pull the vehicle over however the driver allegedly evaded police and drove away at speed.

Then at approximately 8.15am, Toowoomba Police were advised of the same vehicle travelling north on the New England Highway between Warwick and Toowoomba.

The vehicle was reported to be driving erratically and on the incorrect side of the road.

Police then observed the vehicle travelling north along Ruthven Street, South Toowoomba at the intersection of Alderley Street.

Upon sighting police, the vehicle accelerated heavily and the driver's side of the car struck the rear passenger side of a truck before hitting a pole on Ruthven Street.

The female driver and a female passenger are assisting police with inquiries. Another female passenger was taken to hospital for observation.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

A 19-YEAR-OLD woman and two other females have been arrested in Toowoomba this morning after allegedly evading police in a stolen car on the New England Hwy.

Toowoomba communications officer Sergeant Kent Haley said the 19-year-old was driving a car which was stolen from Ipswich overnight.

Police were alerted to the vehicle in Warwick when they received a complaint about people hanging out of a car and erratic driving about 7.15am today.

Sgt Haley said police tried to intercept the vehicle at Warwick but it evaded them, driving north toward Toowoomba on the New England Hwy.

Officers received another report of erratic driving at 8.20am on the southern edge of Toowoomba before they came across the vehicle in traffic on Ruthven St, just south of James St.

"The vehicle has attempted to evade police by driving away and hit the back of a stationary truck," Sgt Haley said.

The teenager and her two passengers were arrested after the low impact crash.
