Hinterland town prepares for red-carpet premiere

A SMALL Coast town will be treated to the Hollywood experience this Saturday when a star-studded red carpet gets rolled out.

Director Chris Sun is holding the premier of his latest horror flick Boar, in his home town of Nambour, which features the likes of John Jarratt, Melissa Tkautz, Hugh Sheridan, Bill Mosely, Ernie Dingo and Simone Buchanan.

Mr Sun's latest film is set in outback Australia, but was predominately filmed in the Coast's hinterland.

Lurking within this picturesque setting is a dark and terrifying threat - a beast of staggering size with an uncontrollable desire for blood and destruction.

Driven by its insatiable appetite for carnage, it defends its territory with brutal force and savagely takes on any who get in its way.

Councillor Greg Rogerson said he was thrilled Mr Sun had chosen home turf to premiere the film as it was a "fantastic opportunity to showcase Nambour's lively, quirky and innovative creative scene".

"After it was proposed that Nambour could host the premiere, we pulled out all the stops to ensure that the town comes alive for what will be an exciting one-off event," he said.

"Our support is all part of energising C-Square and the Town Square as entertainment hubs in accordance with the Nambour Activation Plan.

Locals are invited to come down to watch the stars walk the red carpet from 5pm and take a selfie with an eight-foot replica Boar.

C-Square will also host a bar, live music and food truck as part of the night's entertainment.

Currie St between Howard and Low streets will be closed from 4pm.
