Home-grown talent for Heat

THE Brisbane Heat didn't have to look far afield to bolster its batting line-up for the second T20 Big Bash League.

Home-grown batsmen Chris Lynn and Joe Burns are the eighth and ninth signings announced by the Heat, joining Dan Vettori, Alister McDermott, Nathan Hauritz, Dan Christian, Ryan Harris, Ben Cutting and Luke Pomersbach.

Lynn played for the Heat in the inaugural BBL, while Burns, who is currently in England with the Australian A team, was a late inclusion for the injured Ryan Broad last year, but did not play a game.

Heat coach Darren Lehmann said the pair of young batting guns offered plenty of firepower to the line-up.

"Lynny showed us that he can get you runs quickly last year, while Joey hasn't played a lot of T20 but what he's shown us so far with the Bulls (he was the leading runscorer last season) suggests that we have something pretty special to work with," he said.

Teams have until Friday to sign a minimum of 14 players and must finalise their 18-man squads by November do it within A$1 millon.
