Buck's party off and racing

THE program for Saturday's TAB meeting in Grafton listed six races – for horses.

However, when wild weather forced the meeting to be abandoned, punters didn't expect the running of a second race, albeit of a slightly different variety.

Local lad Jason Landrigan and his buck's party decided to have a bit of “horseplay” on the course proper after gaining permission from Bradley de Martino Rosaroll, CEO of Grafton Racecourse.

A field of 12 starters lined up on a track rated a heavy 8, but only 11 crossed the line after a fall in the home straight.

The race was won by favourite Scott Kenny, who passed the winning post with a comfortable margin.

The groom finished out of the placings.
