Equestrian FOR the past three years the Vandekaa family have thrown themselves into equestrian in the Mackay region.

Whitsunday Anglican School student's Yvie, 15, Will, 12 and Audrey, 8 all featured at the Hibiscus Spring Showcase early this month with the Vandekaas developing a name as local equestrian's leading family.

Mum Susan credits equestrian for building resilience, confidence and strength in her children.

While the sport has plenty of benefits Will said he simply enjoys the challenge of working with his horse, Pippa.

"I like it because the horse has a mind of its own so you need to think of what you want to do and how the horse will respond,” Will said.
