Boxer The Hurricane immortalised in Bob Dylan song dies
THE American boxer wrongly accused of murder, Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, died aged 76 after a two-year battle with prostate cancer.
Carter, who was immortalised in Bob Dylan's ballad The Hurricane, was wrongfully accused of involvement in a triple homicide in the United States in the late 1960s.
The boxer, who spent more than 19 years in prison for the crime, was freed in 1985 after a series of lengthy court battles, devoting his later life to helping others wrongly accused of crimes in the US and Canada.
