DARREN Lockyer says he will leave it as late as game day to decide whether he will play against Manly but remains optimistic he can defy a facial fracture to take the field for Brisbane in their knockout final.
And the Broncos captain told critics to take aim only at him, not the club or doctors, if he takes the field with his fractured cheekbone and things go wrong.
Lockyer trained to applause from fans and in front of large media pack at Red Hill this morning, completing the field session but staying out of the contact drills.
He spoke shortly after, with his face still slightly swollen and bruised but looking better than it did after he was hit accidentally by the knee of teammate Gerard Beale on Saturday night.
He said he was in no pain and was yet to make a decision about his availability to take on the Sea Eagles.
