USA takes bragging rights in Sochi's 'Cold War'

USA has taken early bragging rights in the Winter Olympics very own "Cold War".

The Americans have beat the Russians 3-2 after an extended penalty shootout to go top of the group in qualifying.

TJ Oshie scored the winner at the eighth time of asking as a prolonged shoot-out capped one of the great Olympic encounters between the two.

Both will still get through to the knockout stages, with the home team under pressure to collect gold.
