Ice seized in Toowoomba City drug raid

A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with possession and supply of amphetamine after police uncovered a bag containing about 28 grams of the drug.

Officers from Taskforce Maxima and the Darling Downs District Tactical Crime Squad conducted searches in the Toowoomba City and Cooyar areas yesterday.

A search conducted about 7.15am uncovered the amphetamine, described by police as being of high quality.

Meanwhile, an afternoon search of a rural property at Rangemore, west of Cooyar, yielded and unsecured .22 calibre firearm, illicit drug utensils and a quantity of white powder.

A 41-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both residents of the property, were today helping police with their investigations.

Darling Downs District Tactical Crime Squad officer-in-charge Scott Stahlhut said the raids were in response to criminal motorcycle gangs and their unlawful activities.

The 32-year-old man, Trevor John Jones, appeared in custody in Toowoomba Magistrates Court this morning.

He was refused bail, with his next court appearance set down for September 5.
