Injured pig hunter airlifted
PIGGING can be a perilous pastime as one Blackwater man discovered when he stabbed himself in the leg while hunting on Saturday afternoon.
Experienced hunter Kevin Thompson, 54, was in pain with his leg bleeding internally when the RACQ Capricorn
Rescue helicopter was called at 8pm to take him to Rockhampton to be assessed for possible surgery. He has since been airlifted to a Brisbane hospital for treatment.
Earlier in the day, the Rescue 300 crew did an inter-hospital transfer with a Blackwater female, 62, who had severe breathing difficulties.
The chopper was in Emerald last Sunday to transport an 18-year-old male who shattered his hip at the Comet Rodeo.
