Inspired Hopoate puts an end to Dragons' season

WILL Hopoate broke Red V hearts and gifted North Queensland a finals berth with a stunning one-man display in his last game of the season.

Hopoate played his best game of 2017 to drag his Bulldogs over the line and end St George Illawarra's chances of finishing in the top eight.

The Dragons only needed to win the game to steal a finals berth off the Cowboys, but failed to get the job done in a thriller at ANZ Stadium.

But the outcome could have been much different if not for the Canterbury fullback.

Hopoate had a hand in four of his side's five tries, registering two try assists and scoring one himself.

He also executed what must be considered one of the best trysavers we've seen this year. He managed to somehow hold up a rampaging Josh Dugan over the tryline late in the game, which could have very well put the match on ice for the Dragons.

On top of that Hopoate ran for 185m, had two linebreaks, two tackle busts and truly stood up when the game was on the line.
