International visitor numbers going up on Fraser Coast

THE latest Fraser Coast tourism figures show an increase in international visitors in the region.

Member for Maryborough Bruce Saunders said the Fraser Coast was growing as a destination for international visitors; as numbers increased by 4% from last year.

"International visitors to the Fraser Coast increased 4 per cent, up to 136,000 in the year to September 2016," Mr Saunders said.

"As more visitors descend on the city, we are seeing the economic benefits in our local businesses.

"Hotels and the accommodation sector have benefited from a 17% increase in visitor nights to 657,000."
