MACLEAN is set to become a piping hot scene this Easter when the 107th Maclean Highland Gathering flings into action and the Highland dancers and pipers take centre stage.
This year the gathering will have a special guest when world renowned Irish piper Ian Lyons and his bagpipes blow into town.
President of the Lower Clarence Scottish Association Bob MacPherson is confident Ian’s presence will give all solo piping competitors an added boost.
“It’s so important to have a high profile piper like Ian coming to the Highland Gathering this year,” Bob said.
“He is one of the world’s best pipers.
"Bagpipes are the most difficult instrument to play and I think having Ian at the gathering will encourage and inspire the other pipers to perform to the best of their ability.
“The junior pipers especially will take inspiration from him.”
Ian will perform a recital at the Maclean RSL Club on April 23.
The event starts at 8pm.
Admission is free, all are welcome to attend.
