PETER Wallace says he "must be too stupid to feel pain" as he pushes his ailing body to the limits.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Wallace has played the past few weeks with three broken ribs and a broken hand, and he needed seven stitches to repair a cut lip following the Panthers' loss to St George Illawarra on Sunday.

His injury woes were so secret that even his teammates didn't know how battered he was.

"I've got a high pain threshold, I suppose," Wallace said.
