Jack singing his way to the top

JACK Vidgen has become a household name and is on his way to becoming a world-wide sensation after making it into the semi-finals of Channel 7’s Australia’s Got Talent show.

Viewers now have a week to vote for Jack if they would like the former Whitsunday resident to win the show’s $250,000 cash prize.

Jack’s singing abilities were first recognised when he was aged just seven as a student at Cannonvale State School.

Now 14, the Sydney resident’s talents have been identified.

Jack was one of eight contestants on Tuesday night’s semi-final hoping to make it to the grand final.

After singing And I Am Telling You I ’m Not Going from the Dream Girls sound track, judge Dannii Minogue said Australia had never seen talent like Jack’s before in front of a national audience.

"There is no attitude, no ego, he is the nicest, nicest boy," she said.

Jack’s father Steve Vidgen, of Proserpine, went to Melbourne last weekend for the recording of the show.

"We were worried at first because Jack had a sore throat," he said.

"But he got up there and nailed it."

The top two competitors from Tuesday’s show will go on to compete in the grand final in two weeks – but it’s now up to viewers to vote.

"He now needs everyone to get behind him and vote for him," Mr Vidgen said.

To vote for Jack call 1902 55 3338 or SMS Jack to 1997 77 772.
