Jacob, hard to touch

THERE is no denying Queensland under-12 state touch representative Jacob Van Zanden has a lot on his plate.

The Central Highlands youngster is already a member of junior rugby league representative sides and in three weeks will contest the state titles for rugby union in Brisbane.

He has another cap, as one of the latest recruits in the U12 school state touch side.

His selection comes after a starring display with his Capricornia team at the Queensland Schools Touch Championship in Longreach this month.

The state side is off to the National Championships in Coffs Harbour in October.

“I don’t think it’s really sunk in,” Jacob’s dad Joel said of his son’s latest achievement.

Fellow Capricornia team member Blake Moore was selected as a shadow player for the Queensland team.

The Capricornia team’s five-strong Emerald contingent helped to secure fourth place at the tournament’s final rankings despite missing out on a state jersey.
