Jade off boil in cooking program

Stuart Bryce

PALMWOODS schoolgirl Jade was one of four mini chefs sent home last night on Junior MasterChef.

The children's cooking competition heated up when the eight contestants with the lowest points on the Junior MasterChef scoreboard faced off against each other in two challenges.

Jade didn't impress the judges enough in the first 'Perfect Roast' challenge and had to compete in guest chef Tony Bilson's culinary test - took cook lobster risotto with chanterelles and truffles.

"The hardest thing I've faced in Junior MasterChef was definitely today cooking for Tony Bilson and cooking with ingredients that I have never cooked with before was definitely a challenge," said Jade.

The nine-year-old curry master said she would miss Matt Moran the most out of all the judges.

"I will probably miss Matt Moran the most because he was very kind to me and also because he has been a mentor to me through the whole competition," she said.

"It was scary having to cook food for the Junior MasterChef judges.

"But it was so much fun and I wouldn't swap it for anything."

She hopes mates Harry and Greta, both from Western Australia, get a shot at the grand final.

"I think maybe Harry or Greta will win because they are both very strong cooks and we are such good friends," she said.

"I would hope that one of them wins."

Junior MasterChef airs tonight at 7.30pm on Ten.
