JAMES Morrison has every right to blow his own trumpet, not only is he one of Australia’s most talented trumpet players but he also puts on a great night of entertainment.
Jazz with James is on again, hosted by the Emerald Ladies Welfare Association, and will be held at the Emerald Town Hall on Saturday, March 26.
The night will start at 7pm with a combined effort from the Emerald State High School and Marist College’s jazz band performing for the first hour.
The jazz students will be lucky to learn a few of James’ secrets when he holds a workshop with the high school students that afternoon.
James will be playing a two-hour set which will be followed by a local band to take the event to midnight.
Secretary of Emerald Ladies Welfare Association, Sharyn Heiskari, said the association held a jazz night with James two years ago which was a sold-out success, so they decided to do it again.
“We always donate proceeds to a local organisation,” Sharyn said.
Funds raised on the night will go towards the Emerald SES branch to help purchase new equipment.
“We are hoping to buy them a new rescue boat,” she said.
“We found out during the floods that the boat they currently have couldn’t access smaller places like streets and small rivers. They need a smaller boat to access flood victims as the one they have is more suited to dams and bigger places.”
The preferred boat for the branch has a shallower bottom, with a new one costing about $30,000 and a secondhand one costing about $15,000, she said.
Tickets are $100 each which includes a free glass of wine and nibbles.
Seats are limited and no tickets will be available at the door. Tickets can be purchased from Maguires Real Estate at 99 Egerton St.
