FORMER AFL star Jason Akermanis could face charges after allegedly being involved in a traffic accident in Mooloolaba this week.

Channel 7 News alleged on Wednesday night Akermanis was driving a vehicle on Brisbane Rd when the car collided with another on Monday.

The driver of the other car told police that Akermanis had allegedly given a different name to her.

When she told him she was not happy, it was alleged he offered her money not to call police, Channel 7 reported.

Police later pulled up Akermanis driving on the Bruce Hwy, Channel 7 said.

Akermanis was quoted as saying that the matter was not a big issue.

No charges have been laid.
