Premier's focus on jobs for future in biofuels

PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk was speaking the language everyone wanted to hear: jobs.

Following a tour of the Wilmar BioEthanol plant with Member for Mirani Jim Pearce, talks centred on creating jobs in the biofuels industry.

"I think it's important we are growing the jobs for the future," she said.

"You're on about jobs, I'm on about jobs and that's what it's all about," Mr Pearce said.

Despite the focus, Ms Palasczcuk did not cave to recent pressure to bring forward development of the ring road.

The priority was getting design work right.

"Detailed design work is beginning now and getting the detail right is our priority," she said.

"That's why we've allocated $30 million to the project."

She also highlighted her desire to run a "government of consultation".

"If you have any ideas for building our regions and the way that money can be spent, we want to hear your ideas," she said.

"Put your thinking hats on, we want to make sure this area gets their fair share."
