Joe Hockey prepares farewell speech

FORMER Federal treasurer Joe Hockey is expected to deliver his farewell speech in Canberra on Wednesday.

The politician, who held the country's financial reigns during Tony Abbott's reign, is expected to end his 20-year career in politics when he address Federal Parliament.

The member for North Sydney said he would call it a day after Malcolm Turnbull came to power in September.

His resignation  means his electorate will face a by-election.

The seat is a safe Liberal enclave.

Pundits say Mr Hockey will get the plum Australian United States ambassadorship.
