John Aloisi says Roar happy with underdogs tag in ACL

FOOTBALL: Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi says all the pressure will be on Kashima Antlers when the two sides clash at Suncorp Stadium in the Asian Champions League tonight.

The Roar will go in as big underdogs, despite having home advantage, after losing the last game between the two sides 3-0 in Japan last month.

Brisbane is on the bottom of Group E with one point from three games, while Antlers are on top on six, having lost one of their three matches.

Aloisi said his team had belief it could get a positive result tonight, especially with home advantage.

"The pressure is probably a little bit more on them because they are in a good position and they need to make the top two and get through the group stage," he said.

"They are expected to qualify, whereas no one is really expecting us to get out of the group because of the position we are in.

"We still believe we are a big chance (to win) and we are going to give everything and hopefully come out with the three points."

Aloisi was criticised for leaving Thomas Kristensen, Thomas Broich and Michael Theo out of the team that lost 3-1 to the Glory in Perth on Saturday night.

All three will return tonight and the Roar coach said it was a case of doing whatever was needed to keep his squad as fresh as possible with the ACL games and finals coming up.

"We have to rotate," he said.

"Sometimes the schedule has not been favourable for us.

"I am not going to go on about it because the FFA has said it will change next year whoever is in the ACL.

"We are well prepared for this period, not only for this game but for the final game of the season (against the Phoenix on Sunday) and the finals after that.

"We will be ready. It's not weighing on us and we are not going to be limping over the line.

"We are going to be in full flight."
