Juniors clash for pre-holiday match

BLACKWATER under-6s toughed it out against Emerald Brothers in Blackwater on Saturday. The Blackwater coach said Jet Hansen and Rylee Flint were stand-outs, winning the Man of the Match awards. Try scorers for Blackwater were Hansen with three, Braden Conway two and one each to Jacob Mathewson, Bailey Webber, Henry Sherwell and Lewis Fursman. Brody Sonter, Julius Malone and Flint were among the best of the defence.

CRUSHERS under-7s took down Emerald Brothers in a very competitive hit-out. All played extremely hard. Joshua Scales and Baxter Lancaster were on fire scoring three tries each. Connor Webber had a fantastic full field run with a try. Blake Boase, Tom Dennis and Hayden Ogrodniczek tackled hard with some great runs.

EMERALD Brothers White under-8s took Blackwater with an excellent team effort by Brothers in both attack and defence. Nearly all tries scored as a result of good off-loads. Much better use of two and three-man tackles, with David Walters and Kelly Murphy showing the way defensively. Special thanks to the under-7 boys who helped us out – Beau Weaver, Kye Walsh and Haimz Lelf.

CRUSHERS under-14s claimed a 20-nil forfeit win over Emerald Brothers. Players were not left without their weekly dose of footy with Blackwater surrendering a number of their own players to supplement Emerald ranks for a scratch match. Crushers’ coach Mal Williams said the player offering almost turned against them, with Emerald taking the early advantage before Blackwater finished comfortable winners.

Williams said the match-play did his players good leading into a lengthy spell with school holidays and bye rounds, before returning to the pitch against Middlemount late next month.

EMERALD Brothers under-16s held out for a tight 14-8 win over Blackwater. James Paterson and Branden Ferguson running over the Crushers only points.

DYSART Bulls under-18 handed Emerald Tigers a 48-22 thumping in Dysart at the weekend. Tyren Nicholls scoring a try-triple for the Bulls.
