Central Highlands Juniors picked in Capras squad

FIVE Central Highlands Junior Rugby League players made the most of their home-ground advantage at the Capricorn Capras trials at McIndoe Park, earning selection for the Junior State Carnival in July.

League president Andrew Finlay had hoped more Central Highlands players would make the Capras squads, but he said there was no shortage of effort from the juniors.

"You can't doubt their commitment," Finlay said.

"They gave it 100%.

"All the boys performed really well.

"They tried their best."

The under 14 age group was the most fruitful for local talent, with Ethan Bullemore, Michael Frankie and Kyle Vogler all picked for the Capras.

"The three boys really stood out," Finlay said.

"They earnt their spots."

Finlay said having the trials at Emerald made the experience more special for the players.

"They're playing in front of their families and local crowds," he said.

"They don't have to go away and have a camp.

"They might put on a better performance."
