Keeper bowls out eight for Brothers

WHATEVER zone Emerald Brothers' cricketer Tom Minter was in at the weekend, his captain Chris O'Shea wants to see more of it.

Usually more comfortable with the gloves behind the stumps, it was Minter's bowling last weekend that was sending the opposition batsmen packing.

The strike swing bowler took an amazing 8/19 haul from eight overs during Brothers' Central Highlands cricket clash with Blackwater.

Five of Minter's eight wickets rattled the stumps.

"He was unbelievable," O'Shea said.

"He's usually a wicket keeper, but a shortage of bowlers meant he had to open the bowling for us.

"It was a great exhibition of swing bowling."

The power display left Blackwater with little answer and the visitors were summarily dismissed for just 39 runs.

Brothers' opening batsmen Martin Langan and Rhys Adams fired early, reaching the target in fewer than 10 overs and without the loss of a wicket.
