Kubica already locked in for Rally Australia

THE next staging of Rally Australia is more than eight months away but already one of the best drivers in the wolrd has confirmed he's coming to the Coffs Coast.

Polish driver Robert Kubica has ended months of speculation about his future by confirming he will remain in the WRC and tackle every round of the championship, including Rally Australia from September 10 to 13.

In his second full season at the sport's highest level, the 30-year-old Grand Prix winner will again drive a Ford Fiesta RS WRC, co-driven by Maciek Szczepaniak, with backing from Polish oil company LOTOS.

Kubica's team will confirm later which organisation will run the car for him.

"After analysing the situation I decided to continue in WRC, where the challenge for me is still the biggest," said Kubica, who admitted in October that he was considering a return to circuit racing.

"It took me a long time to make this decision, but there was no pressure at all. I wanted to be sure about it and I did not want to rush. There will be some more new things to come, but I will announce them later."

Kubica finished ninth in the 2014 Coates Hire Rally Australia.
