Labor doubts three-year NBN plan

THE National Broadband Network's three-year construction plan has been slammed as unachievable.

Released on Friday, the plan to connect more than nine million homes and businesses to the NBN by September 2018 includes detail on which technology each area will get and a timeframe so most Australians can see when construction work will reach their area.

Shadow Communications Minister Jason Clare said the government's NBN plan was not realistic.

"It looks more like an election plan than a construction plan," he said.

Communications Minister Mitch Fifield denied it was a move to get re-elected and said NBN management was confident the rollout time-table could be met.

"What you're seeing with this rollout schedule is the benefits of the approach that Malcolm Turnbull put in place, and the NBN board," he said.
