LABOR has hit go on the countdown clock for Campbell Newman's premiership, claiming he must resign his commission "by 6.01pm" on Tuesday.
The Electoral Commission of Queensland is set to declare seats at 6pm and Labor's Jackie Trad said Mr Newman must resign as premier the very next minute.
While the Ferny Grove result will be sent to the Court of Disputed Returns, where a by-election is expected to be the likely outcome, results can still be declared in the meantime.
The LNP is expected to be named as the winner in 42 seats, while Labor can claim 44. Independent Peter Wellington announced last week he would support Labor leader Annastacia Palaszczuk's party in parliament.
"And that means that Labor is the only party in Queensland that can pass laws through the Queensland parliament, we are the only party that can actually offer stability over the next three years," Ms Trad told Fairfax Radio 4BC.
