THE Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 heralds the birth of a new legend.
Hailed by the raging bull as luxury within a super sports car package, the circa-$450,000 can sprint from 0-100kmh in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of more than 325kmh. It takes less than 10 seconds to reach 200kmh from standstill.
Under that sharp bonnet is a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 producing a lethal 449 kilowatts - which is more than four times that of a standard Toyota Corolla.
It's partnered to a dual clutch seven-speed transmission.
Average fuel consumption is 12.5 litres for every 100km. That's not bad for a supercar…some modern day V6s are struggling to achieve better than 10 litres/100km.
The Huracan sits on 20-inch wheels and is stopped via carbon-ceramic brakes.
There is a fair amount of pressure on the Huracan to carry the mantle. The Gallardo, which it replaces, was
Lamborghini's most successful model with 14,022 units produced over the past decade.
"With the Huracan, Lamborghini is writing the next chapter in its great history," Automobili Lamborghini present and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said.
The Huracan measures 4459mm long, 1924mm wide and 1165 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2620mm.
It's expected to arrive in Australia mid-year, but there is already a long waiting list.
