Seven people, three cars in collision on major Coast road

UPDATE: Seven people have been involved in a crash on a major Coast road.

Paramedics rushed to the scene of the three-vehicle crash on Caloundra Rd, west of the Corbould Park Racecourse, where the vehicles had collided in the right hand westbound lane.

Seven patients were assessed for injuries, with two taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Traffic is again flowing normally in the westbound lanes, after the blockage of the lane left traffic banked for more than 3km.

BREAKING: One lane is blocked and traffic at a standstill on an arterial Sunshine Coast road.

Paramedics are on their way to a reported crash on Caloundra Rd at Meridan Plains.

The crash scene is just west of the Caloundra-Mooloolaba Rd roundabout, and affects the westbound lanes heading towards the Bruce Hwy.

The Department of Transport has issued a high-priority alert, advising motorists one lane of the road is blocked.

More to come.
