Laura Geitz rested for most of game against Barbados

ALLORA goal keeper Laura Geitz had a bit of time to watch her teammates as Australia beat Barbados 77-27 in their round 3 netball match in the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow.

Playing the ninth-placed Barbados, coach Lisa Alexander took the chance to rest Geitz for part of the game but the national captain was on court in the fourth quarter as the Aussies made it three from three.

Australia lead 20-9 at quarter time and never looked in trouble.

The Diamonds have now beaten Wales, England and Barbados after deciding to march in the opening ceremony despite having a game the next day.

They are four wins away from their first gold medal in the Commonwealth Games for 12 years but after trailing against England for most of their round 2 game, the Australians will take nothing for granted.

Geitz won silver four years ago in her first Commonwealth Games but has the added responsibility of captain this year.

It is likely Australia will play Jamaica in their semi final.

The Diamonds will be happy to play Jamaica in a semi rather than New Zealand or England who are in the top-three in the world along with Australia.
