AUSTRALIAN heavyweight Alex Leapai has declared he will shut American Malik Scott's motor-mouth in their international heavyweight fight in front of his Logan community tonight.

A victory for Leapai, knocked out in his last fight by world champion Vladimir Klitschko in Germany in April, would reignite his hopes of another shot at a world title. The winner of the fight will automatically return to the top 10 in world heavyweight rankings, with the prospect of a big-money fight not far down the track.

"I can't wait to get in the ring and rip this guy's head off," said Leapai, dismissing concerns over a nagging calf injury which delayed the showdown by a week.

"I'm sick of hearing his voice."

Chomping on his cigar after yesterday's weigh-in, Scott said, "I'm sorry if it sounds so simple and so corny, but I will beat Alex because I am Malik Scott.

"This is my redemption, not Alex's.

"The fans are going to see the best skilled heavyweight on the planet. I don't say the hardest puncher or the toughest fighter, but if we talk about skill, there's not one man over 200 pounds that has the skills I have ... not on this planet."
