Lee Kernaghan takes home four Golden Guitars in Tamworth

LEE Kernaghan was the big winner of last night's Golden Guitars in Tamworth.

The Australian country music legend took home four awards including Male Artist of the year, Top Selling Album of the year for Beautiful Noise and Single of the Year for Flying with the King.

The other big winner of the night was singer songwriter Sara Storer, whose critically acclaimed return to music after a six-year hiatus was recognised with three Golden Guitars.

Her album Lovegrass was named Album of the Year, Storer was named Female Artist of the Year and her duet with John Williamson, Pozie, was named Vocal Collaboration of the Year.

Tamworth local Ashleigh Dallas was named New Talent of the Year, while Luke O'Shea and Drew McAlister took out two awards for their duet Lady of the Land, a tribute to Slim Dusty's wife and musician in her own right Joy McKean.

It was a special moment for McAlister, who performs in the duo McAlister Kemp with Troy Kemp, who told APN last week that winning Heritage Song of the Year had always been his dream.

Taylor Swift's Red was named International Top Selling Album.
