LETTER: Let’s face the truth, many are fearful
PAULINE Hanson has been accused of causing fear, and on ABC's Q&A on Monday night was told "and you are good at it".
Her number of votes received at the recent Federal election has been attributed to "fear".
But to "credit" or criticise Hanson for this is drawing a long bow.
Too right people are fearful; and with good reason.
As Alex Peters said (QT July 20) the "she'll be right mate" attitude, as admirable as it was in an earlier time, does not cut it anymore.
Apart from the terrorists' activities throughout the world; China's laying claim to the South China Sea; the prospect of Donald Trump becoming the president of the United States (not that the alternative is attractive, either); the appointment of Britain's new Foreign Minister; and North Korea's performance over the past couple of years, what is there to fear?
Only, perhaps, China, North Korea and Indonesia joining forces to divide up the spoils?
As Hanson said on Q&A, "that was then, this is now".
Too right!
