Fans queue to see Reece sing
HUNGER, rain and hours of mindless boredom weren't enough to put Tasha Davis in a bad mood late yesterday.
The Woombye 14-year-old had been camped outside Caloundra RSL for more than 10 hours to ensure she was first inside when the doors opened for the long-awaited concert by X-Factor winner Reece Mastin.
She and her friends may have been alone when they first arrived but by 5pm she was at the front of a long queue of fans, each with their $60 concert tickets tucked safely in their pockets.
"My friend and I got here at 7am," an excited Tasha said.
"We've just been sitting around and talking near the doors.
"We just want to make sure we're up in front of the stage."
The object of all the excitement, 17-year-old Reece Mastin, who scored a No.1 hit with his debut single and admits he receives a lot of marriage proposals from his young fans.
"It's quite overwhelming, but good," he said.
As concert time drew nearer, Tasha had a very clear picture of why she was willing to wait in the rain to see her idol.
"He's just so talented and amazing and perfect," she enthused.
"I was in love with him even before he won X-Factor."
An RSL club spokesman said the young fans had been well-behaved.
"They haven't been a problem. They've just been sitting around and talking," he said.
"We're about to put a barbie on for them."
