Mad Men Hendricks' casting confusion

CHRISTINA Hendricks says people call her when they "need a b***h"

The 'Mad Men' actress - who plays feisty Joan Holloway in the show - says casting directors mistake her as being like her bold, forthright character.

She said: "Before I played Joan, people used to say, 'I don't see her being tough enough for this role'. Now that I've played Joan it's sort of the opposite.

"It's like, 'We need a b***h. Call Christina.' I'm like, 'Wait a minute, I'm nice. I promise'."

In real life, 35-year-old Christina - who is married to actor 'Body Of Proof' actor Geoffrey Arend - claims she is much more "nerdy and goofy" around the home.

She added: "Joan is so poised and pulled together. I'm quite nerdy and goofy. I'm sort of notorious for making a corn salad and forgetting the corn. But I'm getting much better."

Christina also nurtures musical ambitions and, as well as singing, is skilled on an unusual instrument.

She said: "I sing a bit and I would pursue possibly doing a musical or something. I'm still plugging away at my accordion."
