Get 'intimate' with magic
DETERMINE for yourself whether magic is real or just a slight of hand when illusionist Cosentino comes to Capella.
Cosentino will be performing at the Capella Cultural Centre next Saturday, March 19, and said the goal of his show, Distortions, was to baffle and amaze the audience.
“I am quite excited to be coming to Capella... and to be travelling around and bringing my show to the people,” he said.
“I am an illusionist and escape artist but what I do is a mixture of so many things and it involves so much.”
Cosentino said one act in his show involved “intimate” magic as the performance was shown up close in detail on a 2m x 2m screen. He said his favourite act to perform was is Deja Vu, and said he liked to play upon strange and weird feelings when creating the illusion of predicting the future.
“I want to give adults that split second of wonder and bring them back to when they were kids,” Cosentino said.
“Come open minded,” was his message to the audience.
“The success of the show depends on (the audience) and how they will get involved. Come to have a good time and not have a closed mind, just get caught up in the moment.”
Just don’t expect him to divulge any of his secrets.
“I’ve lost that feeling (of wonder and amazement) because I know it all. I’m cautious not to tell my secrets because I feel I’m cheating them and I don’t want them to lose that feeling (of bafflement and wonder) because my goal is to give them that.”
The show starts at 8pm and tickets are $32 for adults, $20 for children or $90 for a family of four.
